Lot tracking
Managing inventory with lot codes and expiration dates is essential for brands selling consumable goods. ShipBob’s lot tracking feature ensures full visibility and control over these products, from receiving to storage and fulfilment. Our system automatically prioritizes picking items based on expiration dates (FEFO), ensuring compliance and reducing waste.
Merchants can easily designate lot products within the ShipBob dashboard, which triggers automated workflows for receiving and storage. Following industry best practices, each lot is stowed separately based on lot at time of receipt and our fulfilment centres track which lot codes are used in each order. In the event of returns, merchants can choose to dispose of, quarantine, or restock (for return-to-sender orders only) lot-controlled items, with expiration date photos submitted for verification.
In the event of a recall, ShipBob can identify and isolate the affected lot according to the local traceability requirements of the regulatory body, whether domestic or international, and GFSI guidelines without disrupting the rest of your operations. We can track impacted inventory, orders, pick events, and customers, as we work with our team in the warehouse to dispose of inventory compliantly as needed.
